Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to fill in the space underneath the skin. They lift the skin to lessen the appearance of wrinkles and lines. This gives the face and body a more youthful appearance and can also help reduce the appearance of scarring.
When exploring dermal fillers, one of the most important considerations is determining their longevity. Depending on the injectable substance, dermal fillers can last anywhere from a few months to several years. We can inject dermal fillers almost anywhere in the body to reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and scarring. Common areas include:
The filler we select is dependent on your body type, the area you want to treat, and the severity of the facial lines you wish to reduce.
Using a fine needle or cannula, our provider carefully administers the dermal filler into the targeted areas. Technique and depth vary depending on the treatment objective—whether it’s to plump the lips, soften nasolabial folds, or lift the cheeks. Precision is critical, as small amounts are typically injected incrementally to sculpt and refine the area with accuracy.
Proper aftercare is crucial for supporting healing and minimizing side effects after dermal filler treatment. While mild swelling is common, following recommended guidelines helps reduce discomfort and promotes optimal outcomes. Most patients find these steps effective in managing their recovery and avoiding potential risks:
Botox is FDA-approved. However, you should only receive Botox from a qualified cosmetic clinic like Illuum Cosmetic Surgery, where licensed providers offer top-level care. This ensures that the injectable treatment is safe and that the provider can take all necessary steps to achieve your desired results with the least likelihood of side effects.
Avoiding sun exposure after filler injections is essential because ultraviolet rays can increase inflammation and swelling at the injection site. Sun exposure may also prolong redness and irritation, potentially interfering with the healing process and affecting the outcome.
Yes, our injectable gels (dermal fillers) can be used to smooth smile lines by filling in volume loss beneath the skin. However, for crow’s feet, other treatments such as neuromodulators are often preferred, since fillers are generally more effective for volume restoration than muscle relaxation.
