Injectables: Botox
and Dermal Fillers
When people think about dermal fillers, they probably automatically think “Botox.” However, Botox isn’t a dermal filler, although both Botox and fillers are used on aging skin to lessen the appearance of lines and wrinkles–mostly on the face.
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that use synthetic and/or natural products to fill in the surface underneath the skin. This lifts the skin to lessen the appearance of wrinkles and lines. It adds volume giving the skin a more youthful appearance. It can also help reduce the appearance of scarring to return the skin to its natural beauty.
Botox is an FDA approved neuromodulator. It reduces muscle movement in the injected area, which helps reduce current wrinkles like crows feet near the eyes and prevents the formation of more. Botox injections are popular for reducing lines and wrinkles around the eyes, nose, and forehead.
